We Love our Volunteers

Pizza, drinks, and great conversation.

Community of Hope volunteers and Staff spent their Wednesday night at the Board Room in Dupont Circle. Our staff congratulated volunteers on their significant contributions to families and patients in need.

From long-time volunteers to newly-matched mentors, volunteers at Community of Hope consider our families their extended family. Volunteers, like Kristal, shared stories about spending time with her tween mentee exploring DC and how they created the ‘tall-girl handshake,” which made her mentee feel comfortable with her rapidly growing frame.

Mentors, like Kristal, help their mentee to develop a vision for the future, expose them to new experiences, and form meaningful, long-lasting relationships.

As #VolunteerAppreciation event came to a close, we asked each volunteer to answer #WhyDoIVolunteer. Kristal says, “by giving, my life is improved,” proving that volunteers can also be recipients of hope.
