Families at Community of Hope have a new partner in their child’s health and well-being. Dr. Michael O’Brien joined our team in February 2026 and provides primary care for children and teens from birth through age 18 at our Family Health and Birth Center.
Dr. O’Brien’s path to pediatrics has always been guided by a commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care. He earned his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville before completing his pediatric residency training at the Medical University of South Carolina.
His dedication to treating every patient and family with empathy was recognized when he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society, an honor awarded to physicians nominated by their peers for their compassionate approach to care.
As a pediatrician, Dr. O’Brien is passionate about helping children thrive both inside and outside the exam room. His professional interests include promoting early childhood literacy, strengthening community immunity through preventive care and vaccinations, and preventing firearm-related injuries through education and safety measures.
“At every visit, I want families to feel heard, supported, and empowered to make the best decisions for their children’s health,” Dr. O’Brien says.
When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. O’Brien enjoys spending time outdoors hiking and tending to his growing collection of houseplants.
Whether your child is coming in for a newborn visit, a routine checkup, school physical, or ongoing care through adolescence, Dr. O’Brien looks forward to building lasting relationships with families and helping young patients grow up healthy, confident, and strong.
