Two Years of the Community of Hope Pharmacy

Two years ago, Community of Hope launched our pharmacy. This game-changing addition transforms how patients access and adhere to their medications. By integrating the pharmacy directly into our health centers, we now provided a much-needed resource for those who face barriers to traditional pharmacy access.

“Patients, especially those with mobility challenges or chronic conditions, can now receive their medications immediately after their visits. This eliminates delays in starting treatment and helps them manage their health more effectively,” Bellard notes. The proximity of the pharmacy has also boosted medication adherence—a critical factor in successful treatment. The convenience of the pharmacy at our Family Health and Birth Center is significant for patients at that site but also beneficial for patients across our centers who receive same-day delivery and who see the advantage of a pharmacist and their providers working on one team. Community of Hope is grateful to partner with Maxor for this service.

Patients have also voiced their appreciation. LeTesha Dixon, a Community of Hope patient for more than 16 years, says, “For some, visiting a large chain pharmacy can be an overwhelming experience, especially when you’re feeling ill.” She describes the long lines, wait, drive, and even the overhead lighting posing a challenge at times. “Having everything in one place, upstairs from my doctor, has been such a relief. It is one less thing to worry about.”

As the program continues to grow, Community of Hope remains committed to reducing barriers to care and ensuring that all patients have access to the medications they need. “The pharmacy has become an invaluable asset to our community,” Dr. Bellard concluded. “We’re excited to keep building on this success and continue serving our patients in the best way possible.”
