COMMUNITY OF HOPE RECOGNIZED FOR THE 6TH TIME A WASHINGTON POST TOP WORKPLACE
WASHINGTON, DC, JUNE 18, 2021 – Community of Hope has been named one of The Washington Post’s 2021 Top Workplaces Award in the Washington, D.C. area. This 2021 award is the sixth time since 2014 that the organization has received this award.
Selection for the award is based solely on the feedback from Community of Hope’s over 350 employees, gathered through an anonymous third-party survey administered by Energage, a research partner, specializing in technology-based employee engagement tools. Community of Hope’s scores were highest in the areas of team members feeling well-informed about important decisions; affirming a strong sense of vision, values, and direction; and grateful for effective meetings.
During the pandemic, the organization kept doors open and changed the way they communicated, worked, and collaborated. Unlike some nonprofits, Community of Hope increased by 50 new staff members to a total of 365 as of June 2021, sustained our team, and approached a tough year with a trauma-informed approach.
“Receiving this recognition in a year where every member of our team has been on the frontlines of healthcare and human service in the global pandemic could not be more meaningful. Our team transformed the way we provide healthcare and support. They have innovated and been flexible and deserve every moment of recognition. I have never been so proud to help lead this team,” says Kelly Sweeney McShane, President and CEO of Community of Hope.
“I am so proud to be a part of Community of Hope. Being a leader on our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee created space for me to express my thoughts on the impacts of the pandemic, racial inequity, and police brutality in the past year. As a Black man and a refugee, I’m so grateful for being empowered and embraced for who I am,” says Mohamed Kamara, lead reproductive care coordination specialist.
Community of Hope was also recognized in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2020 for the same award. In the same period of time, Community of Hope has more than doubled in size with 165 employees in June 2014 and 365 in June 2021. Managing significant organizational growth while continuing to advance a positive work culture is a significant achievement.
The Washington Post hosted a virtual awards ceremony on Thursday, June 17 to recognize the top-ranked companies. For more about The Washington Post’s Top Workplaces and to see the full list of this year’s honorees, visit link.
