When Tatiauna reflects on where she was just a year ago, the difference today is powerful. She credits stable housing as the foundation that made every other shift in her life possible.
At the time, she and her two children were facing significant challenges and instability. For months, they experienced homelessness—moving from place to place, doing what Tatiauna describes as “pillow to post.”
“I just wanted to push past life without really feeling it,” she shared. “I was struggling mentally.”
That search for stability is how she was connected to Community of Hope, where she began rebuilding her life one step at a time. Through Community of Hope’s Rapid Re-Housing program, Tatiauna and her children were able to move into stable housing. As she completes the program, she will enter our Permanent Supportive Housing, where ongoing case management and housing support will help her continue building her future.
With the support of her case managers, she made a powerful decision: to take control of her life. After securing stable housing, Tatiauna set her sights on employment as a key part of her next chapter. She committed to sobriety and began addressing her mental health through consistent treatment—building the foundation she needed to move forward. Nearly a year later, she proudly celebrates that milestone.
“I started listening, showing up, and doing everything [my case managers] asked me to do,” she said. “Any event, any appointment—I was there.”
Like many parents, Tatiauna faced barriers to employment, including limited work hours due to childcare and a desire to find work beyond entry-level retail roles. She enrolled in Community of Hope’s Gear Up for Success program for people in our housing programs.
Through the program, Tatiauna gained the tools, confidence, and support to pursue employment aligned with her goals. She was fully engaged—attending sessions, working closely with staff, and applying what she learned. With guidance from her employment specialist and support from partners like FedCap, a workforce development organization, she navigated challenges, worked through setbacks, and stayed focused.
“When they saw I was willing to do the work, they gave me everything they had,” she shared. “I owe part of my success to them.”
Her caseworker saw it firsthand:
“Ms. Warren showed dedication and perseverance. She took full advantage of the resources, professional development coaching, and employment readiness tools provided. Her willingness to stay engaged and trust the process allowed her to achieve an outcome aligned with her career goals.”
Tatiauna’s hard work paid off. Today, she works as a Pharmacy Technician. This opportunity not only provided income but also strengthened her confidence and created new opportunities for her family.

“This is the field I’ve been in for the last five years,” she said. “Now I’m taking the steps towards going to school to become a surgical technician.” Today, Tatiauna is employed, and stably housed. Her children are thriving—her daughter excelling academically, making the honor roll and principal’s list, and her toddler son is already showing remarkable development speaking in near full sentences and even picking up multiple languages before the age of two.
“We have food in our refrigerator, clothes, a home, and peace,” she said. “We are grateful for everything.”
She credits both her growth and her willingness to accept help as the defining factors in her journey. “If I hadn’t taken the help, I wouldn’t be here,” she said. “I’d still be stuck in the same place.”
Now, Tatiauna hopes her story encourages others who may be facing similar struggles. “Reach out for help, and take it,” she said. “The help is there for a reason. If you change your mindset, you can change your life. Speak life over yourself, your children, and your home.”
Congratulations, Tatiauna! We are so proud of you, and we’re excited to see what comes next.
