THE COMMONS AT STANTON SQUARE CELEBRATES ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY WITH SPECIAL COMMUNITY EVENT ON FRIDAY, JUNE 28, 2019 

(Washington, D.C.) – On Friday, June 28 at 3:00 p.m. ET, The Commons at Stanton Square (The Commons) will celebrate its one-year anniversary since opening doors in the Fort Stanton and Hillsdale community in Southeast D.C.  

During this special anniversary event, all are invited to enjoy free food, music, games, giveaways, community resources, and a no-cost healthy Community Market featuring fresh fruits, vegetables, and pantry items.  

The Commons represents a collaborative partnership between Martha’s Table, Community of Hope, Horning Family Fund, Horning Brothers, and D.C. residents who are working together towards a shared vision to ensure all children and families in our community have the opportunity to thrive. 

WHAT: One Year Anniversary Celebration: Growing Together at The Commons 

WHEN: Friday, June 28, 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. ET 

WHERE: The Commons at Stanton Square – 2375 Elvans Road, SE, Washington, DC 20020 

WHO: Families and children from the Fort Stanton and Hillsdale communities, community partners, volunteers, staff, and supporters 

EVENT DETAILS: 

  • Event open to the public at 3:00 p.m. 
  • No-cost healthy food market open between 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. 
  • Brief remarks by Kim R. Ford, President & CEO of Martha’s Table and Kelly Sweeney McShane, President & CEO of Community of Hope between 4:15 p.m.  – 4:30 p.m. 
  • Live entertainment featuring Rocketship Dance Team, East of the River Steel Band, and the Side by Side Band between 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

About Community of Hope 

Founded in 1980, Community of Hope (COH) is an award-winning and innovative nonprofit, meeting the needs of over 13,000 Washington, D.C. residents each year.  Our mission is to create opportunities for low-income families, including those experiencing homelessness, to achieve good health, a stable home, family-sustaining income, and hope. We operate three community health centers, offering medical, dental and emotional wellness as well as extensive patient supportive services. We work to end and prevent homelessness by providing housing and supportive services such as employment search and training, housing search, mentoring and youth services.
