Our goal is to end homelessness for families in Washington, DC. Solving homelessness is more than ensuring a roof over a head or a safe bed to sleep in. It's meeting families wherever they are and working with their fundamental strengths to achieve their goals. We are proud to serve families all along the homelessness continuum while focusing on finding them Housing First.
For families at risk of losing their housing, we work with them to prevent homelessness. Through effective assessment and targeting of resources, we help stabilize families through services, financial assistance, and connection to mainstream resources so that they do not need to enter the shelter system.
Shelter is a safe place for families entering homelessness to stay while they get back on their feet. We offer short-term, apartment style shelter with 24-hour support for 20 families. Children can be supported and attend school while we help parents quickly develop a plan to move into long-term housing stability.
We provide short-term, transitional housing for families who are also in need of substance abuse services. In a safe, service-rich environment, parents get help with treatment and support for their employment and permanent housing search.
We help families experiencing homelessness exit shelter quickly and move into their own homes with short- to medium-term rental and utility assistance and supportive services. In addition, we connect families with employment and resources in their communities.
With our support, chronically homeless families find and maintain permanent housing through intensive case management, rental assistance and specialized care for children and youth. With a holistic approach, we focus on all areas of families’ lives.
