Community of Hope, a nonprofit providing healthcare and housing to low-income and homeless families, has been awarded a 2016 Top Workplaces honor by The Washington Post. In its third annual survey, The Washington Post’s Top Workplaces list spotlights private, public, nonprofit and government agencies with the highest ratings from their employees in a survey conducted by Workplace Dynamics.
Community of Hope is the only workplace with headquarters east of the river to gain this recognition and one of 150 organizations recognized, out of 303 companies in the DC Metropolitan area who applied. This is the second time Community of Hope has received this distinguished recognition in the past three years.
Kelly Sweeney McShane, President and CEO of Community of Hope says, “I am grateful and honored to work with such a dedicated team of professionals who truly support Community of Hope’s mission and the people we serve. We strive to create a positive work environment – through our staff-generated workplace culture compact, 360 degree evaluations, and hosting regular team building staff retreats.”
The award is based solely on the feedback of the organization’s nearly 200 employees who scored between 16% to 30% higher compared to peer organizations on statements affirming their pay rate, the efficiency of the organization, interdepartmental communications, decision-making and vision. In particular, our staff’s positivity exceeded benchmark for our industry by 25% for the statement, "At Community of Hope, we do things efficiently and well."
A total of 150 companies received awards at the celebration on Thursday, June 16 at The Washington Post. In addition, Community of Hope will be featured in a special section of The Washington Post on Sunday, June 19.
