Washington Post Names Community of Hope a Winner of the Top Workplaces 2024 Award

WASHINGTON, DC, JUNE 21, 2024 – Community of Hope has been named one of the Washington Post’s Top Workplaces for 2024. This prestigious recognition marks the seventh time since 2014 that the organization has received this award. 

The selection for the award is based solely on feedback from Community of Hope’s more than 450 employees, gathered through an anonymous third-party survey administered by Energage, an employee engagement technology partner. Community of Hope scored highest in terms of the organization’s being efficient, pursuing the right direction, and having good interdepartmental communication. Team members also feel well-informed and appreciate that their points of view are encouraged.  

The Washington Post recognized the largest number – 250 – of organizations this year. Community of Hope stands out as the only DC-based healthcare and human services organization recognized this year.

Melissa McGuire, chair of the organization’s board of directors, stated, “As Board Chair, I believe this accolade is a testament to the hard work, innovation, and dedication of the entire Community of Hope team. They demonstrate change and adaptability, and lean on a strong sense of community, vision, and values. The strong collaboration between the staff and the community served drives the many wins forward!” 

Community of Hope demonstrates remarkable flexibility and creativity in delivering and upholding its mission to end homelessness and improve health. Over the past year, they launched an innovative program – Housing Our Newborns, Empowering You (HONEY), and expanded to add the Womens, Infants, and Children’s nutrition program at now three sites. 

Community of Hope was also recognized in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, and 2021 for the same award and received other national Top Workplaces awards in 2023 such as Nonprofit Industry and Women-led. Over the past ten years, Community of Hope has nearly tripled in size, growing from 165 employees in June 2014 to 465 in June 2024.

We operate three community health centers, a community resource hub, and a Family Success Center.
