Dedicate your talents and passions to help us
care for families, improve lives, and lead change.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Community of Hope!
We are excited to share that Community of Hope plans to welcome back vaccinated volunteers to our Ward 8 short-term family housing site, The Triumph, starting this fall! After well over a year of volunteer programming being on pause due to the pandemic,
we are ready to "press play"!
Please make room in your calendars to be part of our Fam-Club and Dinner at The Triumph starting this fall. We will also restart our volunteer-hosted Birthday Parties at The Triumph. These opportunities provide meaningful ways for volunteers to make a difference in the lives of young people and their families experiencing homelessness.
Volunteers will need to attend a Volunteer Orientation, complete onboarding steps, and ensure they have been vaccinated for COVID-19. Please visit our calendar to schedule your orientation and click here to learn about receiving your COVID-19 vaccine at Community of Hope.
Our volunteer program offers a number of individual and group volunteer activities – matching a wide range of interests, skills, and commitment levels.
The following opportunities are great for one-time and reoccurring volunteers or for groups of up to six people.
Fam-Club and Dinner at The Triumph
Support families overcoming homelessness and give back to your local community! Help lead fun activities and serve dinner to the residents at The Triumph, short-term housing site in Ward 8, Washington, DC.
The following opportunities require a longer-term commitment from volunteers. If you are interested in any of these, please create a Volunteer Account, and sign up for an orientation.
The Commons Receptionist
Help make The Commons a warm and welcoming community center in Ward 8.
Play Night at Hope Apartments (This opportunity is currently on pause)
Spend a fun evening with school-age children reading and playing while their parents attend educational workshops. Play Night is a great way to spend quality time with children while letting them explore their senses, creativity, and more!
Kids Club at Girard Street Apartments (This opportunity is currently on pause)
Provide children with the opportunity to participate in fun activities that support the development of strong social skills and creativity. Kids Club is a safe and enjoyable space where children get to be creative, bond with caring adults, and be themselves!
Diaper Donation Pick-Up
Help our parents be well-prepared to care for their babies by picking up diaper donations!
Empower a young person to succeed by becoming a Community of Hope mentor! Be a wise and trusted friend to a young person who has experienced homelessness.
Capture and share the spirit of Community of Hope on camera.
Community of Hope has changed operations to our Volunteer Doula Program. We no longer use doulas in a volunteer capacity. Instead, we help find new ways to connect patients to doulas in the community. We ]ook to partner with doula collectives and individuals in the area who can provide pro-bono doula services for Community of Hope parents. Interested doulas should click on the opportunity to sign up for the pro-bono referral list.
Community of Hope's 451 volunteers devoted their time to serve our families in 2018.
Corporate partners, community groups and individuals can volunteer to help throw monthly birthday parties for kids at our Girard Street Apartments and Hope Apartments.
