Five Years at the Improved Marie Reed Health Center

Five years ago we re-opened the doors at our Marie Reed Health Center after a long renovation and expansion. Putting the profound impact on the lives of families is hard, but the numbers speak for themselves. In 5 years, the center has hosted over 72,000 visits for almost 10,000 patients.

Language barriers can be a significant obstacle when accessing healthcare, but at the Marie Reed Health Center, we’re proud to have served 23% of our patients in languages other than English. For many refugees, accessing healthcare can be a daunting and overwhelming experience. That’s why we’re proud to have served 460 patients through our refugee health program, providing vital care and connection during a difficult transition.

Additionally, over 1,300 children have received dental care at our center, ensuring that they have a bright, healthy smile for years to come.

Voices of the Marie Reed Health Center:

“Community of Hope has been in DC for over 40 years and though the site initially was started in close proximity at Belmont Street, we relocated to Marie Reed where we continued to exist as a site of hope, inspiration and comfort to many surrounding us. We have been able to treat generations of families, students, neighbors while also building one of the sites to have the longest tenure staff and counting. We recently had one of our providers, Laura Worby, retire, after 21 years of service.  We have a hard working, dedicated and mission- driven team that has allowed ongoing success and most of all making a difference in our patients’ lives with such passion.” — Yasmina Castellanos, Medical Practice Manager for 18 years

“I am a new patient at Marie Reed, and I couldn’t be any more satisfied with my experience. Providers are very accommodating and will move up [your] appointment time if you arrive earlier than your scheduled appointment.  Everyone is very friendly and gives great advice on how to manage your health.” — Letisha Vinson, Community of Hope Patient
