Danielle and Tasean, Mentor and Mentee

Here’s a great testimonial from one of our current mentors and their mentee about their experiences at Community of Hope’s mentor program:

Tasean: “I love being in the Community of Hope mentorship program. It keeps me out of the house, and I go lots of places. My mentor and I are good partners, and she always asks me what I want to do. We always go places that I like to go. We went to Six Flags, and we went on rides and went swimming. I had a good time and I enjoyed it. I also liked learning about history when we went to the American History Museum. I recommend that people join the mentorship program. It’s fun!”

Danielle: “As a relatively new DC resident, I was looking for a way to become more involved in the community and was thrilled to find Community of Hope’s mentorship program and the opportunity to serve as a positive role model for a young person. Getting to know Tasean has been an amazing experience. Seeing our relationship unfold and grow closer has made my life so much richer, and I am very lucky to get to watch this wonderful person become an adult. I know Tasean is going to fulfill her dreams of going to college and becoming a teacher, and I’m proud to have had a little part in helping her reach her goals.

When I became a mentor, I expected that I would support and teach Tasean, and I hope I’ve been successful in those areas. What I did not expect was how much Tasean would support and teach me, but I’ve learned so much from her about what it means to be a kind and caring friend and family member. I couldn’t ask for a more fun person to discover the city with. Whether visiting a museum, exploring new neighborhoods like H Street, or just watching a movie, I have such a great time with Tasean. She is not just my mentee, but also a true friend!”
