Community of Hope Grows to Serve More People Experiencing Homelessness

For almost 45 years, Community of Hope has been working to make homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring—especially for families with children but also for a growing number of individuals.  Unfortunately, the need for these services only seems to grow. DC experienced a growth of 14% among people experiencing homelessness and with limited rental assistance and high rental prices this challenge is getting harder. So, we are stepping up to serve MORE people!

Starting in December, we are excited to begin caring for up to 50 families at The Aya, a short-term housing site in Ward 6 near Nationals Park.  This shelter provides a safe place to sleep while families seek their own apartments.

Already this year, we have welcomed a new site for permanent supportive housing, The Paxton Apartments, where we will partner with Foulger-Pratt. We’ll provide 15 families, including a few larger families in hard-to-find 3-bedroom units, with supportive case management to ensure their long-term housing and family sustainability.

With initiatives like The Aya and The Paxton, Community of Hope is deepening its commitment to  address homelessness in Washington, DC. We hope you’ll give and volunteer as we grow, you’ll make a lasting impact on our community. Together, we are Caring for Families. Improving Lives. Leading Change.
