Community of Hope is extremely grateful to Cornerstone, Inc. for their investment in our mission and our future. Through Cornerstone’s generosity, Community of Hope will continue to provide supportive services, housing, behavioral healthcare, and advocacy for Washingtonians. We are especially excited about the opportunity to create a policy advocate focused exclusively on issues of housing and mental health.
For 25 years, Cornerstone has been a pioneer in the intersection of housing and mental health. Through example, they have demonstrated to Washington, DC the progress that can be achieved through public/private partnerships. With a clear and forceful voice, Cornerstone has called on housing organizations to address mental health needs and on the government to address housing needs. As a nonprofit finance intermediary, they have blazed a path to ensure that safe, dignified homes were developed and preserved for the District’s most vulnerable citizens: very low income individuals and families affected by mental illness. Thanks to Cornerstone, more than 3,100 units of permanent supportive housing were built for those in need.
Their mission has made a real difference in the lives of nearly 6,000 people since 1991 and their legacy will continue as Community of Hope reaches thousands more patients and housing families with our robust programs, now strengthened by this thoughtful generosity. We offer special thanks to the leadership of Nancy Liebermann, President; Keven Vance, Chair; and the entire Board of Directors.
