Event will include free health screenings and family friendly entertainment
Washington, DC – Community of Hope and Walmart are hosting HopeFest on Saturday June 28, 2014 from 12 to 4pm at the Conway Health and Resource Center at 4 Atlantic Street SW. One thousand participants are expected and over # partner organizations and vendors will be present. Additional sponsors include AmeriHealth District of Columbia.
The family-friendly event will feature a performance by EU Band and Sugar Bear, as well as a church and community choir competition complete with a grand prize. A children’s corner will provide kid-friendly snacks, games, and art activities.
Other featured activities include health screenings, free mammographies provided by Breast Care for Washington, healthy cooking demonstrations, tours of the Conway Health and Resource Center, free groceries and lunch and much more.
Founded in 1980, Community of Hope works to improve the health and quality of life for low-income, homeless and underserved families and individuals in the District of Columbia by providing healthcare, housing with supportive services, educational opportunities, and spiritual support. In January 2014, Community of Hope opened its third and largest health center, the Conway Health and Resource Center, which will provide medical and dental care for approximately 10,000 District residents a year.
