Our process is pretty simple.
When you see a job that matches your goals and interests, apply online using the link provided. You’ll be asked for your contact information, resume/CV, cover letter, and your salary expectations, and you’ll receive an email confirmation once your application has been received. Our hiring managers assess candidates for each position. If your application is selected, a member of our team will reach out to you to initiate the interview process. The process usually involves one or two interviews, and you will likely meet several members of our team, which may include potential peers and managers. You’ll find plenty of information on this site to help you prepare for your interview. Be sure to learn about what we do and our culture.
If you’ve successfully completed our interview process and are identified as the candidate we’d like to hire, you’ll receive a phone call and an offer letter from our Talent Management team. You’ll be asked to respond within a certain time frame. You’ll also be asked to complete certain pre-hire screening requirements.

Can I apply for more than one role?
Yes, you may apply to any role that interests you; however, we encourage you to narrow down your applications to the roles that most align with your skills, experience, and interests. Our hiring managers will review your cover letter and resume/CV to determine whether or not you meet the qualifications we are seeking for the role.
I interviewed for a position and was not selected, am I eligible to reapply?
Yes, you are eligible to reapply for positions if you are not initially selected for the role. We encourage applicants to do some self-evaluation and reflect on how your current experience and qualifications meet the needs of the role or whether it would be more beneficial to wait and reapply after gaining additional experience in the field.
What kinds of pre-hire screenings must I complete after accepting the verbal offer?
The screenings needed for each role vary by role. Some examples include: basic background investigation, drug & alcohol screening, FBI fingerprint background check and DC police clearance, credentialing and privileging (for health care provider positions).
What are the application deadlines?
You won’t find application deadlines in most of our job postings because we accept applications on a rolling basis. The best time to apply for a position is immediately. We aim to screen resumes as they come in and reach out to candidates who meet the qualifications we are seeking.
Will you let me know if the job has been filled?
Yes, we do our best to notify all applicants via email when a position has been filled in a timely manner.
Who do I contact if I have questions about a posted position?
If you have questions about posted positions, you can reach out to our recruiting coordinator via email hr@cohdc.org or by calling 202.407.7747 ext.110.
Can I request a reasonable accommodation or assistance in completing the online job application?
To request a reasonable accommodation for assistance in completing the online job application, you may make either an oral or written request. A family member, friend, health professional, or other representative may request a reasonable accommodation on your behalf. The request must be made for a reason related to a disability. Reasonable accommodation is provided in all aspects of employment, including the application process, consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act and DC law.
