HISTORY

The mission of Community of Hope is to improve the health and quality of life of low-income, homeless, and underserved families and individuals in the District of Columbia by providing health care, housing with supportive services, educational opportunities, and spiritual support.
Community of Hope (COH) is the vision of Dr. Tom Nees, who founded the organization in 1975 as a compassionate ministry of Washington First Church of the Nazarene. In 1980, Community of Hope, Inc. was organized as a 501 (c) (3) corporation in response to the growing need for an institutional structure for the delivery of services to the needy. Community of Hope considers itself a faith-based organization and maintains an active relationship with the Church of the Nazarene. Since 1980, Community of Hope has continued to meet the changing needs of low-income and homeless families in the District of Columbia.
