Breast Feeding Program Coordinator (Part Time)
Employer: Community of Hope is a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center serving the uninsured and underinsured populations in the District of Columbia.
Job Description: The Breast Feeding Program Coordinator Position is directly accountable to the Clinical Director for Community of Hope's Family Health and Birth Center. This part time position is responsible for the oversight and coordination of the breast feeding program.
Responsibilities: Coordinate the activities of the Breastfeeding Peer Counselors; provide oversight for grant funding for the breast feeding program, recruit, train, and supervise Breast Feeding Peer Counselors, coordinate and participate in breastfeeding support groups sessions, keep accurate records of all client contacts and other data as appropriate, assist mothers to prevent common problems related to breastfeeding, create, coordinate, and conduct breastfeeding education modules for clients and breastfeeding peer counselors, coordinate and assist with linking clients to community resources when needed, attend and participate in staff meetings as necessary, maintain and update basic breastfeeding information for program distribution, assist the development team with projects and grants to generate funding, assist with health fairs, presentations and community outreach to promote breastfeeding, coordinate the activities of volunteers who assist with group prenatal care and breastfeeding, and perform other duties as assigned.
Education: Licensed Registered Nurse.
Additional Qualifications: Received State-approved training in lactation management or has other credentials such as International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) or other certification in lactation management such as a Certified Lactation Educator, Certified Lactation Counselor, or Certified Breastfeeding Educator. In addition, must have at least 2-3 years of healthcare coordination in a community healthcare setting, preferably with some supervision. Bilingual candidates preferred.
